Dan hummed along with the tinny music pumping throughout the mall as he and Rachel made their way past Starbucks and Wilson’s toward the second floor entrance of Macy’s. He paused in front of Yankee Candle. He needed a polyanna gift for the office. Maybe one of those apple pie scented candles … 

“Let’s go in here a minute, Rache.”

The four-year-old scrunched up her face and shook her head, blond pigtails swinging. “That store makes me sneeze.”

“You know what? That store makes me sneeze too.” Dan grinned down at her and started walking again.
